ExpressCare is excited to announce that Jai
G Parekh, M.D. has joined our Physician Advisory Board. We
will be announcing additional Board members over the next
several weeks.
Jai G. Parekh, M.D.
Jai G. Parekh, M.D., is a board-certified
ophthalmologist and corneal surgeon, who has been involved
in health-care for over 15 years. He is currently a managing
partner in a long-standing, multi-specialty Ophthalmology
practice while serving as Chief of Cornea at a major regional
medical center. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Parekh
is also an Associate Adjunct Professor at the New York Eye
& Ear Infirmary and has served on many hospital committees
over the years. He is well-published and is an active consultant
and speaker for many leading specialty-pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. Parekh graduated from the combined medical
program at the Boston University School of Medicine with honors.
He went on to train in Internal Medicine at the Brown University
School of Medicine & the Lahey Clinic/Tufts University
School of Medicine where he served as Chief Resident. Thereafter,
he completed a residency in Ophthalmology at the Boston University
School of Medicine and a fellowship in Cornea & External
Diseases/Refractive Surgery at the New York Eye & Ear
Infirmary.
Given his interest in the business of health-care,
Dr. Parekh is currently pursuing his M.B.A. with a concentration
in health-sector management at Duke University's Fuqua School
of Business. His interests include clinical algorithms and
strategic marketing.
Mukesh N. Roy, M.D., MPH&TM,
DTMH
Dr. Roy possesses 15 years
of program management experience in healthcare, including
positions that required expertise in communicable disease,
epidemiology and emergency preparedness and disaster response.
As a senior member of the Yale Center for Emergency Preparedness
and Disaster Response he coordinated the healthcare planning
efforts and response methodologies in response to emergency
management, terrorism preparedness and public health emergencies
for 17 hospitals in southern Connecticut. He also assisted
the State of Connecticut in planning and purchase of 100-bed
$8.2 million mobile and surge hospital facility (MaSH); one
of only four nationally.
Previously, Dr. Roy was the Regional Public
Health Epidemiologist for the New York State Department of
Health, where he coordinated public health preparedness and
strategic national stockpile planning for nine counties, and
acted as a bioterrorism planning consultant to assist area
hospitals and health departments in preparing for drills and
tabletop exercises. He provided oversight of all communicable
disease activities within the metropolitan area region, offering
technical epidemiological assistance to local health units
and delivering presentations on possible communicable disease
terrorist threats to the medical care community and other
health agencies. He received the Commissioner’s Recognition
Award for New York State Department of Health Smallpox Vaccination
Program.
Dr. Roy also serves as Homeland Security Officer
and Regional Response Planner (FEMA Region II) in the New
York State Air National Guard. Previously, Dr. Roy served
for 4 years in the United States Air Force in the following
roles: Epidemiology Element Chief, Deputy Commander of Public
Health, Officer in Charge of Medical Intelligence and Bioterrorism
Preparedness and Response Coordinator. Critical responsibilities
of these positions included planning and directing preventive
medicine programs; providing expert guidance to all levels
of personnel on chemical, biological and nuclear warfare agent
health effects; and training medical staff on the epidemiology
of critical public health threats. During his military service,
he deployed to Nigeria in direct support of the United States
Presidential Mission and to Afghanistan as part of Operation
Enduring Freedom. Dr. Roy’s accolades include a Governor-appointed
position to the New Jersey State Public Health Council, Air
Fore Achievement Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal and a
Company Grade Officer of the Year award.
Dr. Roy has specialized
training experience in biological warfare, epidemiology, disaster
assistance and global medicine. He also serves on the advisory
board of a number of leading edge companies to include, Yale-Center
of Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Response, Solaris Health
System, Mobile Matrix, and Global Emergency Resources. He
maintains professional affiliations with numerous emergency
management and public health agencies including the International
Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM), the World Association
for Disaster and Emergency Medicine, American Public Health
Association, New York Air National Guard, The National Guard
Association of the United States and Military Association
of New York.
Nihir Shah, MD, Chief Medical Director.
Nihir Shah, has been
in health care field for more then 16 years. He has been a
partner in a single specialty (Cardiology) group practice
for last eight years. He has completed his Internal Medicine
training at University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ. Following
which, he completed his Cardiology Research training at Cardiovascular
Research Institute, University of California, San Francisco
and Cardiology training at University Hospitals of Cleveland,
Case Western Reserve University. During his training at Cardiovascular
Research Institute, he was involved with multi-center clinical
trials. He has presented at national level meetings and published
in respected medical journals. |
